A Message from the Selected Board of Directors

Dear Member,

The Selected Independent Funeral Homes Board of Directors is extremely pleased to announce our partnership with filmmaker Larry R. Cappetto in bringing his war documentary series, Lest They Be Forgotten, to you. Your presentation of these DVD programs is a unique opportunity to help your community honor the brave men and women who have fought to protect the freedoms we enjoy today. It also is a significant way for your funeral home to demonstrate leadership and how much you truly care about the people you serve.

Selected has developed a Veterans Memorial Program packet in order to help your firm present the first volume in the Lest They Be Forgotten series, Omaha Beach, D-Day, to the public. It includes a copy of the DVD, an event planning guide, advertising materials, media guide, news releases and other materials to help you present an effective program. In addition, Larry Cappetto is available by invitation to be a guest speaker at your event, and Management Assistance Program consultant Link/Freeman Advertising can provide promotional and event planning support.

Several member firms have already conducted highly successful veterans memorial programs using the Lest They Be Forgotten documentaries. Our hope is that as many of our members as possible will join in presenting the programs in their communities.

Veterans Memorial Program Overview

Filmmaker Larry Cappetto has had a life-long interest in military history and the heroic efforts of the brave veterans who have fought to preserve the freedoms we enjoy today. This interest has led him to produce Lest They Be Forgotten, a series of powerful war documentaries based on the first-hand accounts of soldiers who survived the battles. Audiences, young and old alike, find that these films bring history to life and provide very stirring testimonies to the struggle for freedom.

Selected Independent Funeral Homes is proud to offer its Veterans Memorial Program to members which includes a complimentary DVD of the first volume in Cappetto’s series. This unforgettable film features veterans of the Omaha Beach landing of June 6, 1944, telling their own stories—many of which have never before been told.

With your firm as its host, this DVD can be shown to audiences in your community during special memorial events any time of the year. It can be the centerpiece of special outreach programs that bring your community together to honor its veterans and increase awareness, especially among the younger generations.
